How to Raise the Capital You Need to Make Your Business Dreams A Reality And Avoid The Common Mistakes That Cost Many Entrepreneurs A Fortune
Now you can access a complete step-by-step capital raising SYSTEM, for a fraction of the cost of a capital raising consultant
I’m going to reveal a proven way to accelerate the growth of your business so you reach your goals faster and capitalise on a valuable business sooner than you imagined…
My name is Ken Macleod, and I’m the Managing Director of Scotia Macleod. I specialise in helping private business owners, entrepreneurs, and start-ups find and secure funding. I have 15 years of experience in venture capital and banking, working on multi-billion dollar deals on three continents.
In essence, I help entrepreneurs like you find investors. Or more accurately, I help you build a business, a proposition and a communication strategy that will attract investors like bees to a honeypot.
Growing A Business “Organically” Can Be Done, But It’s Hard, Grinding Work
I’ve worked with hundreds of businesses, from start-ups to multi-national giants. Here’s a vital fact I share with all business owners:
It’s extremely difficult to grow a business organically. It’s HARD YARDS. Yes—it has been done, but this growth strategy places major pressure on your finances, your life outside work, and your family.
Fortunately, there’s a much more effective way to achieve explosive growth in your business, and that’s to find venture capital.
THE TRUTH ABOUT SOURCING VENTURE CAPITAL
Continue reading this letter right to the end, and you’ll discover:
- What really works when it comes to raising private capital
- How to avoid fatal capital raising mistakes
- What investors are really looking for when they assess a business
You will also discover how to access pretty much everything I have learned about venture capital for startup and early stage ventures.
First, I’d like you to answer these questions:
- What will an injection of capital do for YOUR business?
- What will that capital allow you to achieve in your business?
- Who will that funding ultimately impact when you’re successful?
Let me help you with some of the answers.
6 BENEFITS OF VENTURE CAPITAL FUNDING
- You can hire people to help you grow your business and take on tasks that you don’t enjoy. This will give you more time with friends and family.
- You can grow faster than your competition.
- Dramatically less stress on cash flow.
- You can start a significant marketing campaign.
- It’s easier to find outstanding employees.
- You can achieve your vision a LOT faster.
Now…I want to make one thing very clear and I say this to everyone I work with:
You’re going to have to lift your game to an ‘elite’ level. Investors are only interested in well-run businesses.
That may not sound like much of a “secret”, but it’s something many business owners and shareholders don’t “get”.
No lousy business will attract capital. But a business and a business case that has been structured with capital raising in mind, can attract PLENTY of capital.
Because the good news is…
DESPITE WHAT YOU MAY HAVE HEARD…
THE WORLD IS AWASH WITH INVESTOR MONEY
LOOKING FOR A HOME
Investors HAVE TO place their money where it will grow and multiply. So don’t tell yourself that “MONEY IS SCARCE” and give up!
Nothing could be further from the truth. Money IS ABUNDANT and is flowing in the TRILLIONS every day.
So lack of available capital isn’t the problem.
The hurdle you must leap is presenting your venture as what I like to call…
A SENSIBLE, RISK-MANAGED place to INVEST THAT MONEY.
So, if you can build the right business model and communicate the business model in a way that convinces investors that your venture is a good home for their investment, then you’re on a winning path.
It’s not a walk in the park, but it’s easier to find venture capital when you understand there’s a way of doing it that works and there’s a way NOT to do it. The road map exists and I’m going to show you how to get this road map.
THE BASICS OF RAISING VENTURE CAPITAL…
THE FUNDAMENTAL INFORMATION YOU MUST KNOW
When I speak to owners of startup and early stage ventures, they typically don’t know a lot about venture capital…just what they may have read in the business pages of the newspaper (which is NOT very applicable or actionable to 99% of companies).
I’m going to provide you with the basics below. And then I’ll provide with an opportunity to take the next step on the road to attracting capital to your venture.
3 Reasons Investors Choose a Business
- Viability. Is the business profitable or will it be profitable?
- Investability. The business is ready for investment and has the infrastructure in place. The business will be able to leverage the capital.
- Sweet Spot. The business is familiar to the investor and in their sector.
So part of the challenge is ensuring your proposition ticks all 3 boxes. In my Capital Raising Program, I show you how to build and demonstrate all of the above.
WHAT INVESTORS LOVE
I’m sure you’ve heard this saying., “It’s not what you know but who you know.”
You’re not going to find quality investors through websites and in the back pages of newspapers. Investors LOVE the personal touch…specifically an introduction from a person they trust.
Investors know that SMART entrepreneurs use SMART ways to get in touch with SMART investors.
The key is networking. Ask your bank manager. Your friends. Your accountants. They will know people who know potential investors. I also have a database of potential investors that you can access (more on that in a minute).
Before I forget…here’s an important fact about investors.
Investors invest in BUSINESSES…not products or ideas. If you have an invention or a fresh idea, it must have the potential to become a business.
DISCOVER WHAT INVESTORS WANT,
THEN TAILOR YOUR PITCH ACCORDINGLY
Before putting your pitch together, it’s important to know precisely what the investor is looking for. There is no rule saying you can’t ask the investor about specific criteria. Yes—most investors are looking for the ‘basic’ criteria but, in my experience, each investor is a little different.
Most investors will pay especially close attention to:
- The Business Model
- The Business Sector (and the models in that sector)
- The Business Infrastructure
- The Team
- The Exit Strategy
When you structure your pitch correctly, you will, at the very least, get serious consideration from serious investors.
THE 8 ELEMENTS OF A PERFECT PITCH
Business owners often ask me how to structure their business plan.
Here’s the answer:
The Pain. The problem you’re going to solve or the demand you’re going to satisfy.
The Solution and how yours is better than existing alternatives.
The Customer and their demographics and psychographics.
Projections that are sensible and based on sound accounting models.
The Competition. Threats. Weaknesses. Strengths. Footprint.
Team & Management including industry experience.
Funding Proposal. What do you need and why?
The Exit. This answers the question, “what’s in it for me?”
Investors must see each of these elements in the pitch.
IMPORTANT: Reading through the above list, you may think to yourself, “I’m pretty strong on that one”, or, “Hmmm, that’s not my strong point”. And that’s good! I help entrepreneurs first accurately ASSESS their strengths and weaknesses, before coming up with concrete plans to “tick every box”.
My approach IMMEDIATELY maximises your chances of successfully raising capital, because it stops you from approaching potential investors with a “half baked” story that is guaranteed to turn them right off giving you any money.
WHERE TO FIND INVESTORS
Some entrepreneurs successfully turn to friends and family. This can work well, but it can (and often does) end in tears. You need to STRUCTURE these agreements in a way that preserves your relationships, even if the business doesn’t go to plan. (This topic is a particular passion of mine… I’ve seen too many family and friend relationships irreparably damaged by issues that could have EASILY been avoided).
Other investors include high net worth individuals, venture capital funds, private equity funds, and ‘angel’ investors.
You’ll find groups of angel investors in the major cities and they are highly organized. There are 8-10 official Angel groups in Australia. However, angel investors sometimes invest outside of the Angel group structure.
In Australia, there are 180,000 high net worth individuals…defined as having more than $1 million in assets aside from their home. Again—the key is finding these investors so you can make your pitch.
The great news about investors: they are always looking for outstanding opportunities. Meaning, excellent businesses with superb potential.
HOW TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP
AND FIND THE CAPITAL YOU DESERVE
I’ve provided you with a solid base of information about venture capital funding.
Here are your next steps, if you’re committed to raising capital for your venture.
- Perform an accurate assessment of your current strengths and weaknesses, with respect to raising capital.
- Make some changes to your business so it’s firing on all cylinders.
- Prepare your pitch.
- Find the investors.
- Make your pitch.
Many entrepreneurs hire me to help them find venture capital funding —due to my deep experience in this field and record of results helping good companies become great companies. My fees are $5,000 to $10,000 for a 1 or 2-day consulting session.
But because some entrepreneurs are looking for a lower entry-price, DIY solution… and because I’m usually booked several months in advance… I’ve put together a program that’s perfect for ambitious entrepreneurs who need to find funding to help them reach their goals.
The program is called:
“Ken Macleod’s Capital Raising Coaching Program”
It’s everything I know about finding venture capital: getting ready… getting out there… and getting the money in the bank.
I established the program to give ALL promising businesses and entrepreneurs a PROVEN and STEP-BY-STEP TEMPLATE for raising capital.
With the program and template on your side, you can:
- Follow a PROVEN roadmap
- Make the best use of your time
- Be professional
- Beat the competition
- Find potential investors
- Pitch to the right investors
And…most importantly… RAISE CAPITAL
THE NUTS AND BOLTS OF THE PROGRAM
“Ken Macleod’s Capital Raising Coaching Program” gives you a step-by-step coaching program that precisely details how to raise capital.
You receive a 4-Part Series of 30 video-based lessons, 20-40 minutes long, plus simple worksheets and exercises.
You get Lifetime Access to the material so you can refer back to the materials whenever you like.
Part 3 provides a bird’s eye view of each of the key capital milestones. You’ll build your personal database of KEY INVESTOR TARGETS and build a list of people aside from investors who can provide financing.
You’ll develop YOUR CASE for investment from the GROUND UP by gathering all the ingredients necessary to build a powerful proposal for investment—learning from actual investor questions I’ve heard over and over.
You’ll also become familiar with what an ACTUAL DUE DILIGENCE LINE OF QUESTIONING will feel like and we will USE THIS to CONVERT THIS INTO A POWERFUL investment proposition.
You will create a POWERFUL elevator pitch that GRABS INVESTOR’S ATTENTION and makes them want to know more. You’ll discover what works and what doesn’t – AND WHY.
You’ll build a highly compelling PITCH that makes investing in you and your business a logical step for investors and you will learn THE CRITICAL PATH TO SUCCCESSFUL PITCHING from a venture capital expert.
The collateral you’ll emerge with includes your pitch…your information memorandum, and a business plan in the right format for time-poor investors.
YOU ALSO GET THESE VALUABLE BONUSES
The Core Program itself is more comprehensive than anything else available on today’s market. And I’ve also added extra bonuses to save you time, money and effort on the path to raising capital.
So you AVOID having to spend ENDLESS HOURS searching the web, I’ve compiled a database of 140 Venture Capitalists in Australia…names and addresses with telephone numbers of 140 EARLY STAGE VCs.And while a list of contacts alone won’t automatically get you money…you’ll know the best prospects and can start to build a relationship.
As part of the “Ken Macleod’s Capital Raising Coaching Program” I also include a resources area where you can access relevant and critical knowledge from ASIC and ATO. You also gain access to other videos featuring key experts.
Ask me a question and you’ll receive an answer—usually by email within 24 hours.
There’s also a member’s area with forums where you can meet with other business owners and affiliated professionals.
THE GREATEST VALUE AVAILABLE TO NEW AND EARLY STAGE BUSINESSES
If we met and I personally provided you with all the information and advice in the “Ken Macleod’s Capital Raising Coaching Program” it would cost well over $10,000…my daily consulting fee is $5,000 per day and it would take me 2-3 days to transfer this much information, in this much detail.
The tools I provide, especially the database of potential investors, are worth thousands AND they will save you hours of time. Plus you’ll pay a lot less to accountants and lawyers. Which is nice!
And when you find the capital and your business becomes really successful then the value of my program becomes clear.
Based on the value inside, and based on the fact you can’t find this information ANYWHERE else in such a self-contained, step-by-step format, I should really charge at least $7,500 for the Program.
However, I do recognise that cash can be tight when you’re in startup or growth phase, and I’d rather make this available to more people who can benefit most, than restrict it to a smaller audience.

“In doing the program I went in thinking that I would be given ideas on how to raise capital to fast track a business idea to get it to market sooner rather than later. I have gained that knowledge and much more. Ken makes you think outside the box. Even from the start he explains there are at least 17 Ways to Fund your business and the capital issued by a company you set up is only one way.
Ken uses a great learning approach of text, video and very handy tools which help pull your business idea into line and focus you on its key aspects in readiness to present for a capital raising. Ken is clear that there will be some stages where you will need to bring in a lawyer – but at least you will have a better understanding when discussing with them. A business client of mine recommended I do Ken’s program, and I am glad they did. If you have a business idea that you think you might need capital raising for then I recommend to you also this program. At the very least this program will help you focus your business idea and plans ready for if or when you decide to raise capital to progress your business idea.”

“I’m new to the world of venture capital but without much needed capital my business will fail to grow & expand in to everything that we hope our businesses will thrive in to. I contacted Ken & he advised of the Capital Raising Coaching Program that he runs at ScotiaMacleod.com.au. The first thought that comes to mind is will it be worth the cost & how to afford further money when expenses are already eating through your cash flow. I can safely & confidentially say that the amount spent on the course is money definitely well spent. Ken professionally highlights the downfalls that people have experienced in the past & where to focus your attention to when raising capital. He has completely changed the way that I believed people would access capital in business.
Ken provides all the information in a very easily accessible & understandable format. Ken addresses any questions or concerns that you have in a very prompt & professional manner. If you are looking to raise capital please do yourself a favour & save time & money by involving yourself with Kens Capital Raising Program.”
