Ken’s corporate career has spanned 13 years and 3 continents, with a number of leading investment banks and financial services organisations. Ken led teams of finance professionals to support and integrate dynamic and complex fixed income trading businesses. A significant proportion Ken’s brief was to pave the way for the sale of, purchase of or integration of businesses for Greenwich NatWest, Swiss Bank Corporation, Dresdner Kleinwort, in the UK, Japan and Australia. He was also was the Controller for GE Commercial in Australia and New Zealand where his focus was leading a team of 50 to integrate and consolidate five equipment leasing and other finance acquisitions.
Ken’s entrepreurial spirit was let loose in 2003 when he raised over $1M capital and started his own finance venture, Scotia Finance, which developed an innovative working capital solution for SMEs. It was here where the seeds were sown for Scotia Macleod, which built on the coal face experience with SMEs in Australia and Ken’s corporate career, and embarked on a path to advise exclusively SMEs on how to position themselves more effectively for capital or for exit. Ken has been an investor in number of early stage ventures, primarily in the IT and digital space, but now spend most of his time now advising SMEs seeking to raise capital or otherwise seeking to exit their businesses.

Ken is both highly aspirational and grounded in reality. He is courageous in his ability to see the bigger picture and wider possibilities, and yet he’s highly considered and pragmatic in his approach to getting there. He has an innate ability to take things back to first principles and very rarely shies away from a challenge. Outside of the workplace, Ken has piloted a light aircraft around Australia, heli-skied in the Himalayas, heli-fished in New Zealand and has dived in the Galapagos.
Ken has a Bachelor’s degree from University of Western Ontario, Canada, is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Directors and a Qualified Financial Planner.
